MLSSM Alumni Croquet Tournament

The LAAX Lighthouse recently hosted a croquet tournament which just so happened to be filled with folks who've previously graduated from our Ministry School, as well as one applicant for this upcoming school year! Also, there were a few leaders from Lighthouses in Europe, which is a pretty decent crew.

A Visit from a Pre-Doctor

Matthew Thomas and his sister Lauren have been hanging with us the last few days and sharing ideas and answers to some of the biggest topics in Christian faith and theology!! From humility and pride, to the early church fathers and their understanding of the Old Testament, to the Rapture and discussion of end times, to C.S. Lewis's Mere Christianity.

Matt and Lauren are from San Leandro, California. Matt has been working on his master's degree at Regent College in Vancouver, B.C. for the last few years, and he's been accepted into a doctoral program at Oxford University in England, beginning this fall. So we are mighty stoked to snag a couple days with him, before he heads across the Atlantic for the next 3 years!!

And happy birthday Lauren!!

Canada Ministry Missions Trip - Vancouver

It was amazing to go from visiting/playing in a kindergarten class with the 5 year olds, to driving into the lower east side of Vancouver and spending some time with the community at Jacob's Well. We had some incredible opportunities to connect with and serve the folks down there including working in their gardens. We setup tomato plant supports, churned up the soil, planted corn, and planted watermelon. Such an amazing day. Then we popped by La Casa Gelato for a scoop of ice cream---no big deal, just 218 flavours to choose from:)

Europe Missions Trip - Easter Fun Day part 2

After the most epic and snowy Easter Egg Hunt in the Val d'Isere community playground---all the children (and their parents) marched down the street to the VSpot bar, which kindly opened their doors for the kids party and part 2 of the Easter Fun Day.

Our MLSSM team (under the direction of Tanja Perch) set up 5 different stations for the kids to do different Easter activities including: facepainting, basket-making, egg-coloring, decorating cookies, and play-doh!! The parents loved the party and it was without a doubt the biggest children's event of the year for Val d'Isere.

Europe Missions Trip - Easter Fun Day part 1

After several days of travel, delays, and miracles---we finally ended up in Geneva Switzerland. From there, Andreas Perch of the Val d'Isere Lighthouse picked us up and drove us straight to Val d'Isere France. Tanja and Andreas had planned and promoted a children's Easter Fun Day for the community. This type thing does not exist in their community, so they felt like it would be an amazing way to connect people and serve the families.

Our team--straight off the plane, filled the 500 eggs (we had brought from the USA) with all kinds of goodies and hid them in the snow and trees around the kids playground in the center of town. Then they gathered all the kids and set them loose on an epic Easter Egg hunt. It was amazing. We even had a dog find an egg that had been burried in the snow.

Some of the children and parents arrived a bit late, so we hid another round of eggs in a different section of the park and all these children were able to join in the fun!!

Dave's Wave - Mammoth Mountain

We had a little pit stop just below Dave's Wave on the back of Mammoth Mountain today---to snap a photo... just before trekking to Hole in the Wall. Pictures from Hole in the Wall coming soon! If you haven't seen the wave in person---you gotta check it out after fresh powder has fallen:)
